Reports just coming in say that Dino Melaye, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senator representing Kogi state at the National Assembly, has had his election upheld by a Kogi state election Tribunal.
The decision taken this morning by the tribunal after being challenged by the former holder of the seat, Smart Adeyemi, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
PM News reports that the petition had been earlier dismissed on a technical ground that it was filed out of time, but the Federal Appeal court ruled that the case should be revisited.
Melaye took to the social media to express joy with the decision of the tribunal.
He tweeted:
Praise God.Sen Dino Melaye’s election upheld and sen. Smart Adeyemi’s petition dismissed for lack of merit.
