Travel Chaos across Britain as Storms Cause Severe Flooding and Misery for Millions

The storms have caused major disruption to rail networks with South West Trains, Southern, and TFL Rail services all affected by major delays.

This image tweeted by Jodie Rose shows flooding in Essex, as the south-east is braced for a month’s worth of rain in just a few hours.

Experts have forecasted a month of rain will fall on the parts of London in just a few hours today.

Thundery showers and flash floods are predicted to be contained in the south-east, as the rest of the country is expected to enjoy sunny spells with scattered showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The London Fire Brigade said it received hundreds of calls to reports of weather-related incidents last night, including lightning striking properties, flooded homes and businesses, and rising water trapping vehicles.
