The tragic incident comes only four days after another leading cast in The Village Headmaster, Joseph Abiodun Babajide Adu, passed on.
Only a few days after the death of a leading actor in the foremost TV series The Village Headmaster, Joseph Abiodun Babajide Adu also known as Jab Adu, another member of cast in the series has passed on.
Sam Agbebi of the foremost TV series The Village Headmaster has died. He was aged 62.
Sam Agbebi also known as Baba Lawyer passed on Tuesday, March 1 exactly four days after his colleague Adu.
The late Nollywood veteran was aged 62. According to sources, Agbebi was ill for a while. The Nation reported that he was down for about five years or more, nursing a severe leg condition that even led him to quitting his job at the Lagos State University where he was a part-time lecturer.
The Guardian also reported that he was a banker until his death. Agbebi played the character of Lawyer Iyanda in the foremost TV series which rocked Nigeria throughout the ’80s. A member of cast in the TV series, Chief Dan Imoudu also known as Dagbolu, has offered his condolences. Dagbolu described the late Agbebi as a reliable brother, adding that his death is “sad and unfortunate”.
Renowned filmmaker Tunji Bamishigbin who was a cast in the series has also sympathized with the family following the sad occurrence.
According to The Nation, Bamishigbin among other actors have paid a visit to the deceased’s family in Bariga Lagos and comforted them. It has also been reported that a wake-keep will hold for the late actor on Thursday, March 17 while his burial holds on Friday, March 18 at the Ikoyi cemetery, Lagos.
Agbebi who is a native of Ilesha, Osun is survived by two children, Babatunde and Bababunmi, and his wife Mrs. Pero Kehinde-Agbebi.
