American Celebrities Sue French Retailer For Infringement

Beyonce joins other American celebrities such as Jay Z, Rihanna, Kanye West and Rihanna as they press charges against a Paris designer for ‘trademark infringement’ and other ‘common law violations’.

Fashionista.com reported that the lawsuit was filed with the Southern District of New York on Tuesday, October 6.

The stars sued ElevenParis after the clothing retailer committed 58 violations revolving around illegal use of brand image.

According to Fashionista.com the celebrities are upset that the clothing company has used images and lyrics of popular artistes on loads of its collections and made profits off them without due acknowledgement.

Fashionista says the Paris designer has been issued a number of cease-and-desist letters in the past but failed to comply.

In January 2015, the brand failed to desist from using Beyonce’s image on its collections. This and more has led to the lawsuit in which the celebs are asking for legal fees.

According to Daily Mail, the stars have asked the fashion brand to immediately discontinue the use of their images on its fashion items as well as pay damages.

However, in a sharp twist to the legal tussle some relatives of the celebrities suing have patronized the Paris brand in the past.

According to Thefashionlaw.com; Kylie Jenner, sister to Kim Kardashian, has a picture on her Instagram where she is wearing an ElevenParis shirt.

Solange, Beyonce’s sister, has modeled for the Paris brand in the past as well as appearing on an ad campaign for it.

Daily Mail reported that she is still on the designer’s website. She has also posed on the cover of the brand’s magazine.

It is unclear where the legal battle goes from here given the family ties in it.

Below are pictures of fashion items with illegal use of the stars’s images and nicknames:
